Some areas of the state have seen more than 4 inches of snowfall after a fast-moving storm hit the area producing snow squalls near Des Moines.

A winter storm watch for central and southern Indiana has been upgraded to a warning as the state braces for cold temperatures. The National Weather Service predicted snow for the Peoria area Sunday, followed by a cold week with sub-zero wind chill values.

Much of Iowa got "slushy" snow, as the National Weather Service called it, Monday night into Tuesday morning. The snowfall caused some roads to become slick and partially covered overnight, according to a post from NWS.

The cold has continue to push into Iowa with many of us seeing temperatures struggling to make it out of the teens. Our cold will continue to deepen this weekend with highs only topping out in the mid to upper teens,

Russia has vowed retaliation after claiming to have shot down eight US-made ATACMS missiles fired by Ukraine on Saturday morning. Moscow sees the use of such missiles, which have a range of up to 300 kilometers (186 miles) as a major escalation.
