The director of the Ohio prisons said Friday that the man suspected of killing a Ross County prison guard on Christmas Day didn't have a weapon.

Cannon, 27, for threatening to kill someone, though it isn't immediately clear if Lansing or someone else was the target of those verbal threats, according to the Ohio Civil Service Employees Association.

Rashawn Cannon was identified as the inmate who assaulted and killed Officer Andrew Lansing at the Ross Correctional Institution.
