Syracuse Fire Department and the City Division of Code Enforcement conducted an inspection of the building following the incident. It confirmed the carbon monoxide alarms were present in multiple areas of the building but were not present in the building's kitchen or cafeteria.

Five school employees were transported to hospitals with symptoms consistent with mild to moderate exposure to carbon monoxide.

The Syracuse Fire Department said a body was found at the Syracuse Academy of Science Charter School on Tuesday morning.
