Strong tornadoes are possible across the South as storms pass through the Gulf Coast region. Some locations could see half a foot of rain, worsening flooding.

A flash flood warning remains in effect for Clay, Knott, Leslie, Letcher, Perry and Pike counties until at least 1 p.m. The NWS said storms producing heavy rain have left the area, but excessive runoff from previous rainfall will continue to cause flash flooding of small streams and creeks in low-lying areas.

Back-to-back storm systems will bring the potential for severe weather and flooding to the South over the next several days. Strong thunderstorms could produce damaging winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes,
