A committee named Supporters of Barbara Lee for Oakland Mayor 2025 has raised $168,000 in contributions, including $50,000 from each of the city’s two largest public-employee labor unions, SEIU Local 1021 and IFPTE Local 21, plus $10,000 from the city firefighters’ union.

Former Congresswoman Barbara Lee and former councilmember Loren Taylor are leading the race to finish out Sheng Thao's term. Thao was recalled in November and later charged with conspiracy and bribery.

The money Loren Taylor and Barbara Lee are spending isn’t unusual by historical standards. The other seven candidates have raised next to nothing.
