Cases of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) are on the rise, triggering concern among health officials. As of January 29, a total of three GBS-suspected deaths have been reported in West Bengal, with over 120 cases of the rare autoimmune disease detected in Maharashtra.

The state health department said in a release that of the total 130 patients tracked and under treatment now and 20 patients are on ventilator support.

Barre syndrome outbreak in Pune has crossed the 100 mark with 3 deaths confirmed as of Thursday. The sudden surge in cases has health officials and Pune city authorities concerned as they ramp up surveillance.

The confirmed cases are 25 from Pune MC, 74 from new villages announced in PMC, 13 from Pimpri Chinchwad, 9 from Pune Rural and 9 from other districts, a statement from the release mentioned.
