Kohl's is closing 27 underperforming stores around the U.S. as ailing big-box retailers continue shrinking their footprint.

Kohl's says it plans to close 27 of its more than 1,150 locations by April. The 66 locations Macy's announced are among the 150 it's closing as part of its "Bold New Chapter" initiative "designed to return the company to sustainable, profitable sales growth."

Of its 1,150 locations nationwide, Kohl's has 25 stores in Massachusetts. That number will drop to 24 after the closure of this location.
