Laura Dern is remembering her frequent collaborator and friend David Lynch on what would have been his 79th birthday. The famed director's death was announced on Thursday, Jan. 16. On Monday, Dern shared a photo with Lynch on Instagram, along with a heartfelt caption.

The Oscar-winning actor reflects on a lifetime of work with the filmmaker, with whom she collaborated on 'Blue Velvet,' 'Wild at Heart' and 'Inland Empire.'

The actress worked with the late director on four iconic projects: "Blue Velvet," "Wild at Heart," "Inland Empire," and "Twin Peaks: The Return."
