At a surprisingly star-studded event this morning, BMW showed off the final form of its long-awaited and long-teased Panoramic iDrive system. It's a combination of an oddly angular touchscreen, a windshield-spanning heads-up display,

The terminology, in typical Germanic fashion, is a little confusing. The entire system is called "Panoramic iDrive," with “Panoramic Vision” being the funky horizontal band display across the whole dash; meanwhile, the all-new software the whole enchilada runs on is named “BMW Operating System X.”

Dubbed BMW Operating System X, this new system integrates a panoramic screen projected on the windshield, with a lower media screen that can be used as a touch-based controller. The new BMW Panoramic iDrive will debut before the end of 2025 with the introduction of the Neue Klasse generation of BMWs.
