A Nampa legislator wants to make death by firing squad the primary way of administering the death penalty in Idaho. Rep. Bruce Skaug, R-Nampa, introduced the legislation to the Idaho House Judiciary,

I see this bill as being less problematic with appeals in the courts,” said Rep. Bruce Skaug, R-Nampa, who proposed the change in law.

Idaho has not carried out any executions by firing squads and a facility for such executions needs to be built. It is among the states that have turned to alternative methods after struggling to obtain lethal drugs since pharmaceutical companies barred the use of their drugs in executions.
